Sharper UX, Stealthier Maps, and The Finalized Game Atlas!

This update is from the video game team working on the digital adaptation of Maximum Apocalypse. You can wishlist the game on Steam here.

We’ve been heads-down since our last update, focusing on polish, clarity, and giving our survivors the powerful tools they need to face the apocalypse. While our previous efforts streamlined core gameplay and general UI, this sprint was all about deepening the experience—making those critical, high-stakes decisions feel clearer and ensuring you can always find your way, even when the poison is spreading.

Here’s a look at what we’ve cooked up!

Sharper Tools for the Apocalypse: Survivor-Specific UX

We’ve cooked up some slick new UX for survivor-specific cards so you’re better equipped to make decisions during critical situations. Instead of just general interfaces, we’re giving targeted attention to some of the most powerful and unique mechanics in the game.

The Hunter and Mechanic are getting some serious love! We implemented a brand new UI flow for Hunter’s Cover of Night and the Mechanic’s Upgrade. This makes it instantly clear what gear is available for improvement or how you can leverage the Hunter’s stealth in a clutch moment.

Mastering the Wasteland: Map & Exploration Enhancements

As promised, we retouched the main map so you never get lost, whether you’re exploring for resources or fleeing a horde. We’ve focused on clarity around movement, especially when dealing with the most dangerous element: the monsters and the environment itself.

The main map now fully supports the Sneaking mechanic. You can now attempt to sneak into tiles with existing monster tokens, and the visual feedback is much clearer, ensuring you don’t disturb a monster nest unless you absolutely intend to.

We’ve also clarified how tiles get poisoned and which tile will be affected next. You can now keep track of the poison spreading across the land with our refined map, allowing for better strategic positioning and escape routes.

The Ultimate Resource: Survivor’s Guide (Game Atlas)

Your Survivor’s Guide is ready for action! We’ve compiled all the info you might need to survive the apocalypse into one beautiful, easy-to-navigate in-game resource. This is more than a simple glossary—it’s the definitive guide to the game’s deep systems.

The Game Atlas designs are finalized! This comprehensive guide is complete with matching visuals, allowing you to cross-reference every game mechanic, card, character ability, and even sneak a peek at what achievements you’re still missing!

These are invaluable for new players learning the ropes and veteran players looking to master every synergy.

We’re thrilled with how these quality-of-life and immersion features have come together. They significantly improve the moment-to-moment decision-making and overall clarity of the game.

Thank you for your patience and support. We’re continually working to bring you the best possible version of Maximum Apocalypse, aiming to faithfully capture the spirit of the original tabletop game.

Stay safe out there!
